David Heber is the Director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles, a Professor of Medicine and Public Health, the founding Chief of the Division of Clinical Nutrition in the Department of Medicine and the Founding Director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition at UCLA.
He directs the NCI-funded Clinical Nutrition Research Unit and the NIH Nutrition and Obesity Training Grants at UCLA.
Dr. Heber is board-certified in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Clinical Nutrition by the American Board of Nutrition. He earned his MD at Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in Physiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Heber served as a Director of the American Board of Nutrition and past chair of the Education Committee of the American Society of Clinical Nutrition. He is included in the 2000 listing of The Best Doctors in America, based on a survey of over 35,000 doctors throughout the nation, and is listed in Who's Who in America for 2001.
Dr. Heber's primary areas of research are obesity treatment and prevention, the role of nutrition, phytochemicals,and botanical dietary supplements in the prevention and treatment of common forms of cancer and cardiovascular disease. He is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed scientific articles, 25 book chapters, and two professional texts:
Dietary Fat, Lipids, Hormones and Tumorigenesis and Nutritional Oncology (Academic Press, 1999, 2nd edition in preparation for 2005).
Dr. Heber has also written four books for the public:

After graduating from UCLA Magna Cum Laude in Chemistry in 1969 and from Harvard Medical School in 1973, Dr. Heber completed his internship at Beth Israel Hospital and his residency and fellowship training at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance, California. He completed his Ph.D. in Physiology at UCLA in 1978. Dr. Heber has been on the faculty of the UCLA School of Medicine since 1978 and is the founding Chief of the Division of Clinical Nutrition in the Department of Medicine as well as the founding Director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition at UCLA. Dr. Heber is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Clinical Nutrition by the American Board of Nutrition. He also directs the NIH Nutrition and Obesity Training Grants at UCLA. Louis Ignarro, Ph.D., Premio Nóbel en Medicina
El Dr. Ignarro ha hecho contribuciones excepcionales al progreso de la ciencia, incluyendo ganar
el Premio Nóbel de Psicología o Medicina en 1998 por su investigación sobre el óxido nítrico. Su trabajo ha guiado e inspirado a científicos alrededor del mundo. Un profesor distinguido de farmacología, de la Escuela de Medicina de la UCLA, el Dr. Ignarro trabajó como profesor de farmacología en la Escuela de Medicina de la Universidad Tulane en Nueva Orleans. Antes de dedicarse a la enseñanza, era un científico en CIBA-GEIGY.
El Dr. Ignarro ha publicado muchos artículos y ha recibido el Premio de
